چکیده

The present work investigates structural response of tidal stream turbine blades subjected to impact loads from sea animals. A full-scale blade model was developed using a finite element modelling software ABAQUS, while simplified geometry an adult killer whale (Orcinus orca) assumed in simulating on the blade. foil profiles along were based NACA 63-8XX series, geometric and material properties animal calibrated with experimental results. numerical simulated dynamic blade, accounting for radial velocities corresponding real life scenarios. Different magnitudes trajectories velocity vector simulated, order investigate their influence blade’s plastic deformation. Furthermore, multiple impacts analysed, monitor accumulation strain Finally, potential application stainless steel resistance evaluated, through comparison results obtained models mild carbon materials.

Analysis of Wind Turbine Blade Vibration and Drivetrain Loads

ANALYSIS OF WIND TURBINE BLADE VIBRATION AND DRIVETRAIN LOADS By Venkatanarayanan Ramakrishnan The reliability of wind turbines is a major issue for the industry. Drivetrain and blade failures are common, costly and not fully understood. Designers must thus examine and understand the key parameters that influence reliability. As wind turbines increase in size, the blades are designed to be more...

Finite Element Analysis of Aluminum Honeycombs Subjected to Dynamic Indentation and Compression Loads

The mechanical behavior of aluminum hexagonal honeycombs subjected to out-of-plane dynamic indentation and compression loads has been investigated numerically using ANSYS/LS-DYNA in this paper. The finite element (FE) models have been verified by previous experimental results in terms of deformation pattern, stress-strain curve, and energy dissipation. The verified FE models have then been used...

Using Finite Element Method Vibration Analysis of Frame Structure Subjected to Moving Loads

It was purposed to understand the dynamic response of frame which are subjected to moving point loads. The finite element method and numerical time integration method (New mark method) are employed in the vibration analysis. The effect of the speed of the moving load on the dynamic magnification factor which is defined as the ratio of the maximum dynamic displacement at the corresponding node i...

Finite Element Analysis of Buckling of Thin Cylindrical Shell Subjected to Uniform External Pressure

One of the common failure modes of thin cylindrical shell subjected external pressure is buckling. The buckling pressure of these shell structures are dominantly affected by the geometrical imperfections present in the cylindrical shell which are very difficult to alleviate during manufacturing process. In this work, only three types of geometrical imperfection patterns are considered namely (a...

Finite Element Analysis of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors Subjected to Symmetrical Voltage Sags

This paper studies the effects of symmetrical voltage sags on the operational characteristics of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) by Finite Element Method (FEM). Voltage sags may cause high torque pulsations which can damage the shaft or equipment connected to the motor. By recognizing the critical voltage sags, sags that produce hazardous torque variations could be prevented. Simula...
